Homemaid Banana Bread, Gluten free, Dairy free Recipe

ChasleeAMARSHALL@GMAIL.COM/ Recipes

This banana bread recipe a hearty go-to recipe in my The smell of fresh baked banana bread was a common staple in my childhood home. On any given day after school, I would come home to the sweet, warm smell and know that a tasty afternoon snack was coming right up. We used banana bread for all sorts of occasions… having people over to the house for coffee, small group,…

My little buddy takes after his momma… gotta kee My little buddy takes after his momma… gotta keep things squeaky clean! 🧹🫧🩵 Happy belated Halloween!
A year in review with the best job I’ve ever had A year in review with the best job I’ve ever had 🤍
What was intended to be a “summer break” to re What was intended to be a “summer break” to recalibrate, somehow turned into a 5 month long hiatus with quite a bit of introspection and refining.
To recap, when I left off we had a 9 month old baby, sleep was a scarce luxury, we had just finally settled the furniture in our living room because our couch FINALLY arrived, and I was constantly thinking in terms of reels and tutorials.
Fast forward to now, we have a 14 month old toddler, sleep has become more regular, we moved the furniture back out because we put our house on the market (per the realtor), I picked up painting again and have several projects pending, we close on our house in a few weeks, and my perspective on this page has totally shifted.
Perhaps it was meeting the year mark of becoming a mommy, but what I feel I have to offer in this space has changed a bit. My stance on making a house a home and prioritizing family is still firm, but how to execute the art of homemaking is evolving. So what is homemaking looking like these days?
Cleaning and making food are still pivotal, I mean ever since the house went on the market I’ve been cleaning non-stop. So much, in fact, that now Wheeler is obsessed with cleaning also. But the glue that’s holding everything together is more in the flow of the day to day and week to week. It’s in the fluidity and surrender to what God is doing while still minding the necessary details. It’s a balancing act where perfection simply does not exist. But the love is very strong and that’s what matters most.
I’ve got so much more to say, but I believe this post is long enough. Just know, I am back, and while it may not be perfect, I’m here for the one that may need my testimony on any given day. There’s more to come in the future, so see yall soon.

Let’s talk 🥕🥦🥑 homemade baby food! Toda Let’s talk 🥕🥦🥑 homemade baby food! Today in stories, I showed how we make Wheeler’s baby food. Out of a $15 bag of veggies we were able to get 18 jars of healthy baby puréed food for Wheeler. Usually this would’ve cost nearly $40 at the grocery store! Even though it takes a little extra time, the benefits outweigh everything else because I know what’s in his food and we save some money. We’re not perfect and don’t make it every single week, but progress> perfection, amiright?

A photo dump of what we’ve been up to while we’re gone for the last month… 🥰 picked up an old hobby, kept up with a sweet busy boy, and worked on all the behind-the-scenes parts of life that don’t make it on the highlight reel. Showing up to be the best momma and wife and sister and daughter and friend I can be, is difficult at times, yes. It requires a lot of stretching. But the reward is so worth it 🤍
🧈 HOMEMAID SOUTHERN BISCUITS 🧈 it genuinely 🧈 HOMEMAID SOUTHERN BISCUITS 🧈 it genuinely doesn’t get more southern than my great grandmother’s homemade biscuits. My dad made them every Saturday morning growing up, but the tricky part was that he never measured anything (just like grandmother). Over the years, my mother narrowed down the measurements and now I have a recipe to share!
* 2.5 cups of self rising flour
* 1/4 cup of shortening
* 1 cup of milk
Pre- heat the oven to 400 degrees, mix shortening and flour. Add and mix in milk. Pour dough onto counter and pat out into 1 1/2 inch thick. Cut out biscuits and place into greased pan. Bake for 20 minutes!

From mid-March to about late April is always an od From mid-March to about late April is always an odd time of year for me. Summer is my favorite season and so you’d think Spring would be my second favorite since it ushers in the season of fresh fruits and vegetables, long days, slower living, beach trips and vacations. But honestly, I associate Spring with stress, unpredictability, boredom, and sinus headaches. It’s a long season, and just not my favorite.
Like clockwork, the last week and half have thrown curveballs. Wheeler isn’t sleeping for more than 1.5 hour stretches, and something is waking him up but I have yet to pinpoint the issue. It’s unpopular to say, but I think I speak for most when I do say… we’ve tightened our budget down so narrowly that buying groceries is like working algebra for my dyscalculia dysfunctional brain. And quite frankly, I’ve been praying about some mountains for a long, long time that just won’t move.
But yesterday as I navigated my way out of the parking deck at my doctor’s office, I had a thought.
There’s never been anything we’ve ever been through or will go through in life that Jesus can’t sympathize with firsthand, right? I think about that in every situation, thanks to lots of Stations of the Cross in Catholic school. But it’s the long prayers, the long seasons, the long days, that are my kryptonite.
The thought I had yesterday came from a line in a song, “Friday’s good cause Sunday is coming…” in other words the crucifixion was good because the resurrection came afterwards. I guess I haven’t ever thought about Jesus enduring length because He spent 33 years on earth and 3 years in ministry. But the pinnacle of it all rested on Good Friday, and the day itself truly didn’t have a beginning or an end for him.
But Friday was a LONG day. So long, in fact, that it didn’t really have a beginning or an end for Jesus. He didn’t sleep at all the night before. And he didn’t make it to the end of the day. He took his last breath before the sun was even close to setting.
Take it a step further, and he is currently enduring thousands of years before He gets to be one with his bride, the church.
All that to say… (see comments)
